CWDC Update: Professionals called to step up to social work

2 mins read
As part of a drive to strip away barriers that prevent skilled professionals from taking up a career in social work, the Step Up to Social Work programme has commenced.

CWDC hopes the scheme will attract the best people to the profession. Former lawyers, teachers and youth workers are among a select group who have started a new employment-based route to gaining a masters in social work.

Just 200 people have been selected from thousands of applications from across England to embark on the Step Up to Social Work programme.

The successful candidates, who have at least a 2:1 degree, as well as experience of working with families and children, were selected following a full day of assessment activities that involved local authorities, universities and people with experience of children and families social services.
