CWDC Update: Advanced Social Work Professional status

One of the most advanced stages of a career structure which recognises excellence in practice, the Advanced Social Work Professional (ASWP) status aims to recognise the excellence of social workers at an advanced stage in their career and helps employers retain their most experienced staff.

ASWP status is being piloted in children's services from autumn 2010 and is open to all local authorities in England.

An introduction to ASWP status

ASWP status is part of a wider programme aimed to support employers to address issues of recruitment, retention and reform in social work.

Getting involved in ASWP status

More than 100 people have already booked on to the stakeholder engagement meetings this autumn that will inform directors of children's services, social work managers/supervisors and potential ASWPs about the ASWP status. Places are still available.
