Cultural learning grant for theatre

Youth Work
A theatre in west London is to open a new education centre after receiving a 3m government grant.

The cash from the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) will help pay for the new centre at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith. A state-of-the-art recording studio, four rehearsal and dance studios, a small cinema, an ICT learning suite and an artists' green room are among the new facilities that will be built as part of the expansion programme.

Jessica Hepburn, executive director of the Lyric, says: "The grant from the DCSF is the first step in transforming the Lyric into a new kind of cultural and educational building."
