A green paper has been released on encouraging adults on benefits to return to work and escape poverty.

What's an employment paper got to do with children? You must have noticed the range of employment-related announcements over recent months: all young people remaining in education or training until they are 18; the UK having a fully trained, numerate, literate and competitive workforce; and those who can work being in work. The latest green paper from the Department for Work and Pensions is about moving people from welfare into work. That means that discussions about balancing rights and responsibilities - aka moving from benefits to paid employment - or tailoring support to meet an individual's needs in order to help them move into and stay in work have direct relevance to our sector.
