Corporate parenting: Children design council web site

Looked-after children in Lambeth have designed a web site especially for themselves.

Young people aged between five and 21 who attend the council's corporateparenting board came up with the idea and put it forward to thecouncil.

The site, called G2K (Get 2 Know), includes general information relatingto children in care, carers, social workers and the public. There isalso a members-only section specifically for Lambeth council'slooked-after children and selected council staff.

Yashi Shah, the council's divisional director of social care, said:"This new channel of communication will let young people have their sayand increase their level of participation."
