The government would like Tickell to gather evidence about whether the EYFS does support early years providers in maintaining safe and happy environments in which children can learn and develop.
What are the main points? The coalition government is concerned that although the EYFS has done much to raise standards in the early years profession, it is seen by some as too inflexible to support different learning approaches. Tickell will consider four particular areas: scope of regulation; learning and development requirements; assessment arrangements; and welfare requirements.
Who can have their say? Tickell would like to hear from anyone who has an interest or experience in early years. An evidence form can be submitted online at www.education.gov.uk/consultations. The form is split into two sections: the first is for parents and carers, while the second is aimed at early years providers, local authorities and representative bodies.
