Conservation

In the UK, conservation can be achieved with many localised schemes by individuals and communities, like the Trailblazers project I take part in, which is run by The Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside.

To reduce pollution, I would refer to the well known three Rs: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Reduce means using fewer resources in the first place. Reuse means using again — my pet hate is water bottles. Why do people need to buy new water bottles every time they have a drink? Recycling should be used as a last resort, as it still takes energy to process the recycled waste. However, it is much better to recycle than to throw away to landfill.

I would incentivise farmers to become organic and only be arable rather than pastoral. Deforestation is the key issue to global warming, forests are huge carbon sinks.
