The two-day strike by personal advisers and admin staff follows earlier industrial action on 1 and 10 April (YPN 9-15 April). It is part of an ongoing dispute over a contract introduced last December.
According to the staff's union, Unison, the strikes have centred on three issues: a new working hours contract, an uneven pay and grading structure and the introduction of performance-related pay. Management denies that performance-related pay is on the agenda.
Roger Bannister, Unison's Knowsley branch secretary, said: "The last strike had solid support from 99 per cent of our members. The strike committee now feels that nothing has moved on since, even though we have offered to withhold industrial action if the new contract is withdrawn."
