CONNEXIONS: Merseyside faces more strike action

The partnership's chief executive, Kieran Gordon, said Unison had refused an offer to increase compensation from 250 to 500 plus one day's extra leave. The compensation is for increasing the working week by one hour, to 36 hours.

"Most staff I have spoken to want this dispute to end," said Gordon. "This is a good offer, but Unison denies we made it."

The union claims employers have disregarded issues that make up the dispute, including performance-related pay. Unison branch manager Roger Bannister said: "The discussion with management involving Acas was a disguised refusal to negotiate. They refuse to acknowledge the other issues."
