CONNEXIONS: Greater Merseyside strike suspended

1 min read

The long-running dispute over inequalities in pay, terms and conditions stemmed from the merger of careers services and Connexions two years ago.

Jeff Bowe, deputy branch secretary of Unison, said: "We have finally made progress on all three issues. Forty-five per cent of staff who were moving onto working from 35 to 36 hours a week will receive 500 compensation and up to 31 days' holiday after six years' service. They will receive 300 immediately and 200 on 1 May. Management has also agreed that future negotiations over pay will be based on a mutual understanding of inequality issues."

A joint statement by Acas on behalf of the union and management stated that a personal development review system has been proposed for staff, along with automatic pay increments. A meeting for Unison members will be held on 10 July, with negotiations to reconvene the day after if members agree.
