The local authority has invited bids from organisations to run information, advice and guidance services in schools and for unemployed over-16s.
The new development is the latest step away from the Connexions London West partnership model, which was disbanded earlier this year. Most of its staff were taken on by the six west London local authorities, which now receive money directly from the Government in order to provide Connexions services.
Connexions in west London is run by the Partnership Support Unit, based in Ealing Council, which has three full-time staff. Its functions include staff training, marketing and data and financial management.
Andy Colley, part-time consultant at the unit, said:"As far as I know, what we've done here is unique to the rest of the country and Hounslow is ahead even of that. But the word on the street is that they want to keep the (Connexions) brand."
