What is it? Playing and Learning Together is a six-week parent workshop course supporting parents in their understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). It meets the requirements of the EYFS to involve parents in the learning process.

What happens? Each session lasts an hour and a half and each week the course looks at a different area that supports the EYFS: music, play dough modelling, mask-making, stories, numbers and nutrition.

How do the sessions work? The nursery offers free creche facilities during the sessions so the children are looked after for the first 45 minutes while the parents learn about the activities. Then in the second half of the session the children can join their parents to play the new games. The emphasis is on teaching parents about low-cost educational activities that can be prepared easily in the home.
