Classes help young manage conditions

1 min read Health
Workshops to support teenagers with long-term health conditions are to be launched across England next month.

The Staying Positive workshops will help 12 to 18-year-olds develop skills to cope with and manage conditions such as diabetes, sickle cell and asthma.

The workshops, which consist of three sessions held over a three-month period, cover topics such as sibling relationships, physical education at school, sex and alcohol. The Staying Positive programme has been developed by the Expert Patients Programme Community Interest Company (EPP CIC).

Cathy McMahon, project manager of the Staying Positive programme at EPP CIC, said: "The programme has been developed in consultation with young people. They have told us what is important to them and the workshops have been developed around these topics."
