When I was younger I loved nothing more than to be outside on the family farm helping dad, lambing and feeding calves. I had a few close friends from school but I didn't really have a clue what socialising meant.

This all changed when I attended my first ever Young Farmers Club (YFC) meeting on my tenth birthday.

YFC is one of the largest rural organisations in the UK. It has 662 clubs in England and Wales for young people aged 10 to 26, who can make friends, learn skills and get to travel.

I am now YFC national junior member of the year and a club secretary. Sometimes I'm at YFC events five nights a week attending meetings, taking part in stock judging (where you rank animals on how good you think it will be for breeding or the butcher), relaxing at discos and much more. I have made close friends, met my boyfriend of three years, realised my ambition to work in agriculture and learned loads. YFC has changed my life.
