The exercise is part of its Get Ready for Geneva project (YPN, 24-30 January, p5). This will gather the views of 12,000 young people in the run up to a United Nations review of the UK's adherence to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The investigators will carry out face-to-face interviews with about 450 hard-to-reach young people. A steering group of 17 young people aged seven to 17 will be managing the scheme.
The project, which is funded by 800,000 from the Big Lottery Fund, will kick off its research programme with the launch of an interactive web site for young people on 11 June. This will be used to carry out a survey of young people's views. Sam Dimmock, programme director of Get Ready for Geneva, said: "We plan to send questionnaires to directors of children's servi-ces, both at the start and the end of the project, to see how aware they are of the convention."
