Too often their views are ignored, which can lead to friction and in some cases the breakdown of a placement, according to the network's report Fostering Families - Supporting Sons and Daughters of Foster Carers.
The report calls for the appointment of a social worker in each fostering service to be responsible for the children of foster carers and to seek their views each time a placement is made. It also recommended support groups be set up so these children can share experiences.
The Fostering Network has produced a handbook for the families of foster carers, called My Family Fosters, to coincide with the report.
