Its call follows a report with the Centre for Research on Families and Relationships at the University of Edinburgh that revealed the impact of parental health problems on young people.
Researchers found worries about parental alcohol misuse represented 72 per cent of calls they examined. More than half of these young people said they were being physically abused.
Yet 29 per cent of children had talked to friends about their problems, compared to one per cent who told statutory services.
Anne Houston, director of ChildLine in Scotland, said social services paid attention to the educational needs of looked-after children but needed to recognise they were leaving behind their support system.
