Under the commitment, introduced last Friday, Ofsted can provide information about complaints to those who have a direct relationship with a childcare provider.
From September, it also plans to publish a summary of a provider's complaints history in its inspection reports. Parents will be able to see how many complaints a provider has received since their last inspection, whether further action was needed and if issues needing action were resolved satisfactorily.
Gill Haynes, the NCMA's chief executive, said: "We have always backed any move that secures the welfare of children but we will be vociferous where we believe that childcare providers are being singled out for the kind of treatment that any other professionals would find unacceptable."
