Childcare: Marketing guide to help sustainability

A new easy-to-use guide to marketing a childcare business is helping to boost sustainability in one of the UK's largest counties.

New and existing childcare providers have welcomed the new resource produced by zero14plus, Devon County Council's early years development and childcare partnership.

Marketing officer Tom Flint said marketing was often low on the list of priorities for childcare providers juggling the needs of children, parents, staff, Ofsted inspections and paperwork.

The document, which is based on guidelines produced by neighbouring Dorset County Council, covers all aspects of marketing from making posters to getting coverage in local newspapers.

"People might not know what their selling points are or how to go about promoting themselves," added Flint.

He invited other councils interested in using the material to get in touch.
