In a report published today, Stop, look, listen: the road to realising children’s rights in Wales, the coalition says there has been progress, but much remains to be done.
The report has been produced by charity Save the Children, working with partners including youth participation organisation Funky Dragon.
The group has called for the assembly government to continue to work to remove children from poverty. It also wants to see action to improve the lives of children in care, disabled children, and Traveller children and young people.
The report has been prepared to mark the 18th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. It will be submitted to the United Nations’ Committee on the Rights of the Child next year.
Keith Towler is chair of the UN committee monitoring group and Save the Children’s programme director for Wales.
He said: “The Welsh Assembly Government has its vision, policies and strategy right for children, now they need to commit resources and make this a reality on the ground.”
