Centre starts early years curriculum

1 min read Early Years
One of the first children's centres in England to include the Early Years Foundation Stage in its curriculum will open next Thursday (25 October).

The early years centre, at North Cray Neighbourhood Centre in Bexley, will offer full and sessional daycare tailored around the new curriculum.

The Early Years Foundation Stage, a curriculum for children aged from birth to five years old, will come into force in September 2008.

Sammy Fugler, director of childcare provider Mapalim which runs the centre, said: "We have been able to begin working within the new Early Years Foundation Stage framework from the word go, planning for individual children, creating meaningful resources and planning frameworks within the provision.

"It is very exciting and there has been an element of trial and error, but our qualified teacher and experienced early years manager who are based at the nursery are working closely with the Bexley early years advisory team and implementing very impressive work."
