If you believed the national media coverage you'd think the Government'snew plan for early learning involved strapping toddlers to exam desksand beaming equations and grammar into their brains.
But in fact many childcarers are already doing the kind of things thenew Early Years Foundation Stage framework will demand. At the momentthere are three different frameworks for early learning, development andcare. Creating a single framework will iron out inconsistencies and makeit easier for childcare settings to work together.
"It will mean a childminder can work far more closely with a localplaygroup," says Liz Bayram, chief executive of the NationalChildminding Association.
"That continuity of learning is wonderful."
