Centre renamed after YMCA chief

YMCA Norfolk has renamed its building next to Norwich Bus Station in honour of its former chief executive John Drake.

Drake, who retired last summer after 30 years' service, was integral in setting up the £2.9m Norwich Central YMCA, which opened in January 2009.

The building will be called John Drake House and a plaque has been erected to commemorate his role. The centre provides accommodation for 16- to 25-year-olds.

Current YMCA Norfolk chief executive Tim Sweeting said: "This is a fitting tribute to a great man who has done so much to transform the lives of young people."
