Cassiobury Park Pools Playground, Watford

1 min read Early Years
What is it?This playground has recently been refurbished by Watford Borough Council with the help of children from the local nursery school.

- How did that work?

Sutcliffe Play, the manufacturer contracted to build and design the new playground, was briefed to create something that was accessible to all ages and abilities. As part of the design process, it carried out extensive consultation with two local schools, including Cassiobury Infants School. This meant the under-fives got a say on how the new area should look too. Local youth groups and Cassiobury Junior School were also consulted.

- How did it go?

As a result of the consultation there is now a designated area within the new playground dedicated to two- to six-year-olds. The area contains a range of specially designed equipment. Highlights include a designated Toddler zone unit with two slides that encourage physical, imaginative and inclusive play. There is also a dish roundabout that can be used for fast and dynamic play. The supportive shape of the dish makes it safe and accessible for young children and also children with disabilities.
