Care networks will underpin strategy for terminally ill

1 min read Health
A national strategy to improve services for terminally ill children will have a strong emphasis on palliative care networks.

The strategy is due to be published by the Department of Health in January and aims to create a coherent structure for children's palliative care in England.

CYP Now understands that creating forums to bring together local providers, commissioners and health and social care professionals will be an important part of the strategy.

Lizzie Chambers, chief executive of the Association for Children's Palliative Care, said: "We're keen to see support for the development of children's palliative care networks because there are so many different players in the field and it's so complex that we feel a network would be a way forward."

The strategy follows the publication of Palliative Care Services for Children and Young People in England in May.
