Care-leavers: Leaving-care teams believe funding is inadequate for Act

In a survey carried out by Young People Now on behalf of National Care Leavers' Week, the majority of leaving-care teams either "agreed" or "agreed strongly" that the Act brought in sound principles for improving care-leaving services, but the resources for implementing these have been insufficient.

Nearly nine out of 10 also said that there was a lack of suitable accommodation for young people leaving care in their area.

The findings come just over two weeks after the Government launched its Care Matters green paper, which looked at ways of improving services for looked-after young people, but failed to promise any new money.
