A National Voice, which aims to raise awareness about young people in care, is becoming an independent charity, with young people under the age of 25 setting the agenda for its policies. The National Youth Agency is providing the young people with training and mentoring in preparation for their new roles.
Maxine Wrigley, the national co-ordinator of A National Voice, said: "We want to campaign and lobby for positive changes to the care system."
According to research for the Charity Commission, only 0.5 per cent of trustees are under 24.
