Campaigners push for housing action

Health
More than half of all disabled children live in unsuitable housing, according to a briefing published today (4 June) by the campaign group Every Disabled Child Matters (EDCM).

The briefing cites research showing that families with disabled children are more likely to be in overcrowded homes than other families and more likely to have significant housing needs. One in three families also have problems with access.

EDCM is calling on the Department for Children, Schools and Families to issue guidance reminding local authority children's services departments of their legal duty to fund adaptations to the homes of disabled children.
