
Dr Tanya Byron, who is leading the review, told a CYP Now conference on Monday (28 January): "I have had more children and young people responding than all the industry, policymakers and parents put together."
At the conference, Keeping Children Safe Online, she said children were at the heart of the review and she would be taking their views into account when compiling her final report. "We should be talking to the children. They know more about this stuff than we do and they know about keeping safe," she said.
The review is looking at two specific areas - the internet and video games. It aims to examine the risks to children's safety through material they are exposed to on the internet or in video games and at protection measures already in place.
