What happens? The group is an opportunity for grandparents to meet up and share challenges and experiences. They can also get advice on other groups, childcare, benefits, children's behaviour and ideas for when the children are at home. Most importantly, it can be a good opportunity for social interaction between grandparent and child, as well as a welcome chance for an occasional break for the grandparent.
Why a grandparents' group? There are a lot of grandparents in Morley who help out with childcare and they were not attending any groups offered through childcare settings. Buzzy Bees is often the first group a grandparent has attended, although they often move on to join others.
What do the children get out of it? Those who spend all their time with grandparents also benefit from the opportunity to join a group, and they get quality time with the grandparent where they are learning new ideas to take home and use together, such as making your own play dough.
