A survey looking at the team around the child information and assessment model has revealed that the lead professional is key to its success.

Lead professionals are the driving force behind an approach toinformation sharing developed by two councils, reports a survey.

The survey is included in an evaluation report that examines Telford &Wrekin and Shropshire councils' information sharing and assessmenttrailblazer.

The councils developed a model based on team around the child (TAC)meetings to create a framework for professionals to supportchildren.

The report says it was the "qualities of the lead professional orsimilar experienced and committed TAC practitioners that made thedifference (to integrated working) rather than the meetings".

Qualities the report found parents valued in lead professionalsincluded: their role as an advocate; them being there when parentsneeded help; their positive attitude; and their expertise. Parents alsoliked lead professionals who looked out for small ways, not included inthe TAC plan, to help families without being asked.
