Educational programmes for young people that address violence against women and children are severely limited by short-term funding, a new report claims.
Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls was commissioned by Womankind Worldwide as part of its four-year UK education programme and presents a snapshot of how teaching programmes tackling gender violence are being delivered in schools across the UK.
Since 2000, the creation of the Children's Fund, the preventative focus of the Home Office stance on domestic violence and a growing emphasis on multi-agency working have all contributed towards an expansion of programmes aimed at educating children and young people about violence against women, but few of these programmes are embedded on a long-term basis, the report warns.
