Just what is the children's workforce? Logically it would include anyone who works with or for children, young people and their families.
But in the context of the new consultation on the children's workforce, the focus is mainly on the practice areas where there are particular issues relating to workforce capacity and quality: early years, children's social care and foster care.
But we also have a shortage of teachers, and child psychiatrists. We do indeed. In fact, the priority groups in this paper seem to encompass the same professional groups covered by the Children's Workforce Development Council. But with those limitations in mind, it's still worth a read.
