What sort of creature is the Children, Young People and Families Workforce Development Council? A long one, if the title is anything to go by. But that's the gist of this consultation paper - what do we want it to be?
Authoritative, effective, efficient, fair ... Well, its aims are laudable - trying to ensure that the workforce plays its part in supporting children to reach their potential. In order to achieve this, it recognises that the children's workforce needs to work in a more integrated way. The council's functions will be: to develop qualification and training frameworks for the children's workforce; to gather labour market information about the workforce and advise employers on the implications of workforce remodelling; to make learning opportunities in childcare more accessible; and to work with training and education providers to supply high-quality training.
