Bridgend organises teen support event

Youth Work
Youth workers in the Welsh town that has suffered a spate of teenager suicides have held an event encouraging young people to seek support.

Bridgend Youth Service used its Just Ask event to unveil a rebranded advice and guidance service and crisis cards giving information about services for troubled teenagers to contact.

During the past year, 17 young people in Bridgend have taken their own lives. But Melanie Davies, youth information manager for Bridgend Youth Service, said the event was something that had been in the pipeline for some time.

She said the cards had already been distributed to some young people and that the service hopes to eventually distribute them to 20,000 young people.
