The London Borough of Brent has developed an action plan that aims to improve Black young people's academic achievement and tackle their overrepresentation in school exclusions, teenage pregnancy and youth offending in the borough. Mark Ainsworth, project consultant for Brent Council, said: "Our general approach is to bring outcomes for Black and minority ethnic young people in line with young people in the rest of the borough."
Connexions Leicestershire also launched a report into the underachievement of Black and dual heritage Caribbean young people. Twelve young people were trained to interview 80 of their peers. They found high rates of school exclusion and a lack of awareness of career paths.
