To this end, Stonewall - in partnership with Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays and LGBT Youth Scotland - launched the Education for All campaign in 2005. The aim of the initiative is to "develop and implement a Great Britain-wide action plan" to help schools and the education sector tackle homophobia and homophobic bullying.
"Since Education for All was launched, I've been shocked at the homophobia young people face in school and outside," says Summerskill. He adds that Stonewall has been carrying out a survey about bullying in schools and, though there are no official results available as yet, the "raw data" indicates a "frightening level of homophobic bullying in school and young people don't feel support services are available".
