Best thing I ever did: Simon Duncan, 14, Lambeth

I took up wheelchair racing two years ago and have taken part in two mini-marathons and won several medals. It's quite demanding, but it makes your arms stronger and it makes you far more flexible. I also play wheelchair basketball.

The award is for overcoming adversity. I have cerebral palsy and it's quite hard to get through halls and classrooms in a wheelchair.

Getting the award was one of the best things I ever did; it was like winning a reality TV programme when they called my name out.

I was really shocked, because I didn't expect to win it.
