
Morton Preschool, Lincolnshire – preschool inspection – September 2013
Morton Preschool might have just landed an outstanding Ofsted rating, but in 2005 it looked like the setting would close for good. It had been serving families in the Lincolnshire village of Morton since 1972, working out of a space at the local chapel.
But by 2005, the preschool needed more room and the chapel wanted the space back. For a while, it looked like the preschool could not continue. "We actually put out closure notices in 2005 because we couldn't see any way around it," says owner Brenda Birkenshaw. Then Birkenshaw's husband came to the rescue: "My husband had the idea of building a new location on the land we already had."
