Leys Children's Centre, Dagenham – children's centre inspection – January 2014

It's a bold statement but one, she explains, rooted in the centre's laser-like focus on recording its impact. "Why did we know we were outstanding? It's because we don't leave anything to chance, we make sure we record the impact of our services and that's the main thing Ofsted is looking for."
The centre's confidence was not misplaced. In January Ofsted rated it outstanding, praising its status as a community hub that has proved highly effective at engaging lone parents and sustaining families' involvement with its services.
