An ex-Barnardo's boy reminds Claire why pride is so important.

Some of the youngsters I work with recently developed their own dramagroup. For many looked-after children, it's a natural vehicle for themto be able to either escape their trauma or, conversely, actually dealwith it.

I have watched some of our children really come out of themselves whenacting, and it has improved their self-esteem no end. So when we wereasked to take part in a youth theatre production, they jumped at thechance.

They started working on a script a couple of months ago. Their choice ofsubject was actually about being in care, and the importance of beinglistened to. I was a bit worried that it might be too big and painful asubject but, with the help of theatre experts, it began to takeshape.
