Despite a soft spot for Fathers4Justice, Claire wonders what they achieved.

So, it's so long, Superman, bye bye Batman. I am of course talking aboutthe recent demise of Fathers4Justice. After nearly three years ofcampaigning, they have decided to hang up their capes and tights andcall it a day. It almost feels like the end of an era because, love themor loathe them, you couldn't ignore them.

Whether scaling the London Eye, breaking through the security atBuckingham Palace or handcuffing themselves to Margaret Hodge, thesedads thumbed their noses at traditional protest and brought the media'sattention to the plight of fathers trying to gain access to theirchildren like nothing else had before.

Sometimes it felt like they were everywhere. I got caught on a trainonce as they had scaled railway signals as a protest. "Makes you sosympathetic," said one disgruntled commuter dryly. Looking at him Ithought "And I wonder what you'd know about struggling to gain access toyour children?" Judgmental I know, but sometimes you can't helpyourself. I smiled quietly at their nerve - non-violent action at it'sbest - and effectively disruptive.
