Claire spends a day at a playgroup relearning what real children are like.

Do you ever find yourself talking and writing about children and young people more than actually being with them? I have, finding myself over the years moving from face-to-face work to policy development and training. This has its place, but sometimes you need to get yourself back to the floor to remember what real children are like. I decided that it was time to do just that.

And I don't mean in that tokenistic "hold a small child, lovely babies" way that politicos do. A friend of mine's son attends a local playgroup and on my day off I decided to take him there, and stay and give a hand.
