I was dismayed to read recently about a social worker who had beenstruck off the register for sending sexually inappropriate emails tocolleagues.

It raised discussion in our team about ethics and the appropriate use ofthe internet.

I used to work in an adoption team. One day, I heard an argument betweena new staff member and our manager. The staff member was being taken totask for sending a joke email to another colleague. However, she hotlydenied any wrongdoing.

It turned out the email contained an image of a girl with her knickerscaught in a "wedgie" up her bottom. "I was only having a laugh," saidthe worker, missing the point. But her manager wasn't laughing and, muchto her indignance, the incident was recorded in her staff file. "What anover reaction," she huffed.
