San Francisco: a city renowned for its cultural diversity and socially progressive outlook - and, of course, for its large resident lesbian and gay community and rich queer history. It's an inspiring, powerful place full of potential, especially if you're young and still working out what it means to be gay.

So what better place to take our lesbian and gay youth group? We certainly wouldn't have a problem filling the programme. From finding out about the origins of the gay civil rights movement back in the 1960s to the community response to HIV and AIDS over the past 25 years, there's a lot to learn about in San Francisco.
