PowerPoint presentations. Have they taken over the world? At almost every meeting you go to, someone seems to be doing one. Last week alone I sat through three of them.

Just a few years ago the most people expected in the way of interactivity was for the person speaking to use bits of cardboard to slowly reveal each bullet point on an overhead projector transparency.

Now you're expected to dazzle your audience with special effects. Words zoom in and out. Backgrounds dissolve and fade like it's going out of fashion. And then we've got sound. The less said about it the better.
