So it's time to congratulate Essex's Jamie Oliver for his Feed Me Better campaign. As they'd say round here, the boy's done good.
Following a very successful television series and some high-profile press coverage, Jamie's made eating a Turkey Twizzler about as socially acceptable as smoking. And, more importantly, he's got the Government to pledge an additional 280m to improve nutritional standards in schools.
Although it's welcome news that the average spend on a school dinner is to rise from 37p to 50p, let's not get carried away. We're still only talking 50p a meal, not much more than the price of a packet of crisps and just over a quarter of what's spent on prison food.
