Is it difficult to work in the Highlands? The Highlands is an area about the size of Belgium, but with a population about the size of Plymouth. There are huge problems in providing services to people in a place where the population is so small and yet so scattered.

Do you work with other agencies? Yes, it's the main mechanism for doing my job. I work with lots of agencies including local authorities, the Prison Service, education authorities and voluntary groups. I also work with a sexual health strategy group to plan strategies in my region. I liken it to the winter sport curling, since I'm the team leader but it isn't always me who goes around doing things.
