It is my responsibility to let people know about the opportunities YHA offers and to supply residential planning expertise. I also administer and promote the YHA Diversion Partnership Fund, which contributes towards residentials supporting local crime diversion projects.
What's a typical day? All days are different. I could be running a seminar about leading residentials, representing YHA at an exhibition, meeting youth organisations to progress partnership working, or sometimes just working at home agreeing funding applications.
How did you get the job? I'd been working for YHA as a youth hostel manager for almost 10 years. I had always enjoyed promoting YHA but never had enough time while running a hostel. When this position was advertised I jumped at the chance.
