- What is youth inclusion? Supporting young people aged 13 to 16 who are most at risk of offending, truancy and exclusion. We have targets from the Youth Justice Board to reduce local crime levels, arrest rates and truancy and exclusion.
- What's the best thing about your job?
Seeing change in young people, those who struggled in a group environment and can now discuss things openly and be assertive. One young person in particular had behaviour problems but has now been recruited on to a training scheme through Preston Road NDC.
It is also good to have autonomy to try out new ideas such as a motorbike club, which was launched in 2001 and has shown to have a massive effect on reducing incidences of joyriding on the estate. We are going to sponsor a local speedway team.
